FAQs
What string material do you use to build your strings?
We build our strings with nothing but the best. Rest assured we have done tests and continue to do tests when new materials come out. With that being said we still find ourselves coming back to BCY 452X. Like many string companies we find 452X to be some of the best and most reliable material we can possibly build a string out of.
What serving material do you use to serve your strings and cables?
As mentioned with the string material, we use nothing but the best, so we can produce the best product possible for you the end user. We find that BCY Halo serving combined with Powergrip center serving is the best and most consistent serving to use on our strings and cables to prevent serving separation and movement.
Am I able to request a custom center serving size for my nock fitment?
Absolutely! Since we build so many variations of strings especially with different strand counts, it is necessary to run specific center serving sizes based off your nock. When ordering please make sure to specify your preferred finished diameter or the nock you will be shooting.
Should I wax my strings? If so how often?
No, you do not need to wax your strings. Modern day string material is produced with wax built into the spool of fiber therefore eliminating the need to wax your strings. Waxing your string can actually cause harm and damage, as wax allows moisture to be absorbed into the material. Wax will leave a sticky residue on the string fostering and environment for dirt and debris to stick to it, thus each time you are waxing your string you are rubbing that dirt into the internal part of the fiber you are breaking the strands down internally.
Why don’t you install speed nocks?
We do not like to install speed nocks because the added weight of speed nocks creates more whip and oscillation in the string which is why companies put them on to pick up speed. The down side to this is the whip or cycling of the string from the added weight over time breaks down the fibers. This is why you see stock strings do not last long. We strive to build the best, most reliable string set possible and we find that our strings last much longer without speed nocks.
Will not having speed nocks change the tune of my bow?
No, after many years of building strings without speed nocks we have not found it to be an issue and have found that bows are still easy to tune and in fact stay in tune longer because the string is not getting broken down over time from the added weight of the speed nocksl
Why don’t you do pin striping?
We do not like to do pin striping because of the varying amounts of dye in each string color. The brighter the color such as flo colors, has a greater amount of dye and also wax which both factor into creating increased stretch. We are confident in our building and stretching process, but
Which way will my arrow '“clock” or spin out of the bow?
Over the years we have found that for a right handed shooter our strings will cause your arrow to come out clocking to the left. For a left handed shooter the arrow tends to come out clocking to the right. With that being said, we have done testing with right vs left wing helical and have not found enough evidence to justify needing to fletch your arrows according to the way your arrow is clocking.
Which way do you twist your strings?
We twist our strings “Forward” or better explained as clockwise.
Why don’t you serve your end loops?
We choose not to serve our end loops because we have found that it makes your end loops much stiffer which makes them very brittle. When adding and or taking away twists to adjust cam timing, draw length, poundage etc. having stiff served end loops can cause them to break. We have found that just wrapping the tag end of the string to “serve” the end loop is a much more stable platform.
